Arolyn Burns

Arolyn Burns has been practicing as a therapist since 1997, focusing on trauma from the beginning of her career. She worked with victims of crime, domestic violence offenders and survivors, students struggling with anxiety, veterans, and professional athletes dealing with performance blocks. During her fifteen years with LA County, she investigated child abuse cases for seven and a half years, then became an evaluator assessing mental health needs for children being released from hospitals.

In 2012, a workplace injury forced her to retire and find new ways to manage chronic pain. Through research and personal experimentation, Arolyn created a program combining traditional therapy tools with alternative modalities: sound, light, color, aromatherapy, havening, hypnosis, EMDR, and other cognitive behavioral and somatic interventions. She tested these techniques on herself first, then refined them with clients.

Arolyn developed a hypnotherapy technique that helps people overcome specific phobias, insomnia, and anxiety related behaviors without the distress of traditional exposure therapy. She started working with clients struggling to pass standardized tests, then expanded to fears of flying, driving, and performance anxiety. She’s helped athletes competing for professional teams and those performing in national competitions, including Olympic athletes who went on to win medals.

As a highly sensitive person herself, Arolyn understands the unique challenges of feeling everything more deeply. She brings strong empathy to her work, recognizing that healing happens across all five senses and involves the body, mind, and spirit together. Her goal with “Anxiety Annihilated” is to offer knowledge and tools to people who can’t access therapy or afford multiple sessions, giving them a roadmap to heal themselves using the same techniques she’s refined over decades of clinical practice and personal experience.
